Jacob Neal MINNIEAR, PhD
My love for travel, languages, and pastries flourished during my study abroad adventures. It started in high school in France, testing my French skills and sparking a desire for more exploration. In university, I delved into French life and language in Aix-en-Provence, where self-discovery and lasting friendships were the true treasures. Transitioning to my career in education, I taught in France for many years and fell in love with Turkey during a six-year stint. My professional path took me across France, Turkey, and the US, always seizing opportunities to travel. Now, I guide students in the College of Education through their own international journeys, leading programs in France, Italy, Greece, and coordinating Teach Abroad to empower future teachers. There’s a Turkish saying, “Çok Gezen Çok Bilir,” suggesting that extensive travel brings profound wisdom. Isn’t it our hope for all educators to embrace this philosophy?

Wei Liu, PhD
Wei Liu is the Senior Associate Director of International Programs in the College of Education at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She also serves as Adjunct Teaching Assistant Professor in the International Education Administration and Leadership program at the Department of Education Policy, Organization, and Leadership. Wei holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instructions from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She has worked in international education for over a decade and developed programs and partnerships in countries around the world.
